A: Due to the financial condition of the State of California, the City of Madera does not have the funds to do complete street reconstruction in most cases. Reconstruction costs five times more than chip sealing a street. In many cases, filling potholes can prevent further deterioration of a street until such time as reconstruction can be accomplished.
Your Property | Q: Who do I call if the plumber tells me that the blockage in the sewer line is not on my property? | | A: Call the Public Works Department at (559) 661-5466. | | Q: Who is responsible for a blockage in a sewer line from my house to the City main? | A: City personnel will clean, repair or replace sewer service laterals from the City sewer clean-out near the property line to the City main in the street/alley on an as needed basis, at no cost to property owner, if a cleanout is available at the property line.
Property owners without City approved cleanouts are responsible for maintenance of their lateral all the way to the City main in the street/alley.
Property owners who do not currently have a cleanout can have one installed per City standard at the property line, at their expense, and then the City will do any repair, replacement or maintenance necessary from the cleanout to the City main. |
